The Department of Communication Arts at the University of Wisconsin – Madison is the host department for the Wisconsin Screenwriters’ Symposium. Communication Arts is one of the largest departments in the College of Letters and Science, offering courses in the production and studies of film, television and media.
The International Screenwriters’ Association is a co-sponsor and supporter of the WSS and administers the Wisconsin’s Own Screenplay competition. ISA is the premier community for emerging talent and seasoned writers looking to launch or reinvigorate their careers, offering online resources, classes, networking opportunities, screenplay competitions and more.
The Wisconsin Film Festival is a weeklong celebration of cinema held every April, exhibiting a carefully curated selection of new and repertory films from all over the world, showcasing the art and the history of world cinema. The Festival supports the UW-Madison’s teaching, research, and public service mission by exposing the campus and the greater community to films and filmmakers from Wisconsin and beyond.
